Marina Industries Association Australia
Authoring of the national Marina Industry Association of Australia's "Guidance Note - Managing Embedded Electricity Networks for Australia's Marina Industry." An in-depth research report and guidance note to industry on their options to exempt or comply with the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) legislation for embedded electricity networks and pricing. (June 2021)
The inclusion of "marinas" in 2018 legislation governing embedded electricity networks and charging for electricity meant that the industry faced a $54m compliance cost for the 360 small business marinas that own and manage Australia' 67,000 boat berths.
Due to FSC's smart cities and energy expertise we were sourced by the MIA to negotiate with Government Regulators and to subsequently provide solutions for the national industry to comply or obtain exemption status from the legislation. After release of the 32 page Guidance Note, Robert conducted a national webinar which was attended by near record number of members to share his knowledge and answer questions to guide the industry forward.

He is currently retained by a number of marinas to advise them how they can position their business under the AER obligations and to process their exemption applications to the AER. He also provides recommended rates to charge per kWh whilst complying with AER limits. Mandatory policy and procedures are developed with clients.

SLSC : Street Lighting & Smart Controls Council - Smart City Tenders & IoT
Producing a suite of Industry Model Specifications accelerated rollout of LEDs and smart controls across AUS/NZ.
To facilitate global best practice, fairness and equity, transparency, lowering the cost of tendering, and providing consistency to the AUS/NZ market, we led the research, industry consultation, and production of a suite of three Industry Model Specifications for tendering and financial analysis which are now used as the industry standard for LED street lighting and smart controls tenders by every Local Government across AUS/NZ.

This suite has received world acclaim in the smart cities sector and is being used overseas. It has rapidly accelerated Australia's LED deployment as the foundation network for smart cities.
